Town of Livingston Named Louisiana Development Ready Community
LIVINGSTON, La. – Louisiana Economic Development has recognized the Town of Livingston as a Louisiana Development Ready Community, the 58th parish or municipality to receive state certification of local investment readiness since the program began in 2008.
The LDRC program helps participants become more competitive for new investment and jobs by guiding selected communities through the process of creating and implementing a strategic economic development plan. By following its plan for multiple years, participants leverage local assets and address unique challenges to empower business growth in their communities.
“I congratulate the Town of Livingston on achieving this hard-earned distinction and applaud the teamwork that went into the master and strategic planning,” LED Secretary Don Pierson said. “The LDRC program has worked with nearly 60 communities across the state to bolster economic and community growth and has seen tremendous outcomes from each participant. We look forward to seeing all the positive effects from this plan in Livingston for years to come.”
In securing the designation from LED, the Town of Livingston revisited and updated its Master Plan. This task aligned the LDRC strategic plan with the master planning process, so results and feedback from surveys, multiple community meetings and committee meetings went toward the designation. The plan aims to strengthen economic development opportunities for the town and guide the administration in positive growth.
“The administration of the Town of Livingston is excited to be designated a Development Ready Community through Louisiana Economic Development,” Livingston Mayor J.T. Taylor said. “Our partnership with LED, as well as the Livingston Economic Development Council, will provide job opportunities for our citizens and future business investments in our community. Through our efforts to improve infrastructure, the development of a comprehensive master plan and improvement of our marketing and communication, we will continue preparing for the present and future growth of the Town of Livingston.”
“By application and acceptance into the LDRC program, the Town of Livingston has made a strategic decision to prepare their community for economic development opportunities,” Livingston Economic Development Council President and CEO David Bennett said. “The planning and vision requirements of this program will enable the town to attract jobs and capital investment that is the right fit for them. LEDC looks forward to an even stronger partnership with Mayor Taylor that is sure to be a benefit for all”
