Tech Firm Accruent Launches Technology Center for Excellence in New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS — Today, Accruent CEO John Borgerding joined state and local leaders to launch the company’s Technology Center for Excellence in downtown New Orleans, which will occupy 22,000 square feet at the outset, with the potential for expansion. New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell and Louisiana Economic Development Secretary Don Pierson joined company and local officials at The Shop at the Contemporary Arts Center to celebrate the company’s launch in New Orleans.

Announced in early June, the Accruent project will create 350 new direct jobs in New Orleans at its new center in the city’s Central Business District. The 350 new direct jobs will provide an average annual salary of $65,000, plus benefits. In addition, Louisiana Economic Development estimates the project will result in 338 new indirect jobs, for a total of more than 680 new jobs in Louisiana’s Southeast Region. Accruent has begun hiring, with plans to reach full employment in New Orleans by 2020.

“We congratulate Accruent on the launch of company operations in downtown New Orleans,” said Gov. John Bel Edwards. “Accruent is the latest company to join Louisiana’s rapidly growing digital media, software and information technology sector, and we celebrate the new opportunities they will create for our people. Accruent’s selection of New Orleans is a testament to the highly skilled workforce and strong economic climate found in Louisiana.”

Accruent specializes in software and IT products that enhance the real estate, construction, development, and facilities management functions of major clients in the retail, corporate, consumer goods, higher education, food and beverage and other sectors. Headquartered in Austin, Texas, Accruent is a leading provider of physical resource management solutions. Accruent enables organizations to manage their real estate, facilities and equipment with software and services. Company solutions range from capital planning and lease accounting to monitoring and control functions utilizing internet-of-things technology.

“Accruent’s expansion and growth mirrors that of the New Orleans technology community,” said Accruent’s New Orleans Director Johnny Culpepper. “While our global employee base has grown 50 percent in the last two years, to 1,000 employees, we’re depending on New Orleans’ strong pool of technology talent to fuel our growth to the next level.”

Founded in 1995, Accruent helps over 7,000 organizations in 149 countries optimize every aspect of planning and managing their physical resources. Accruent’s New Orleans office will include teams from several corporate departments, including engineering, support, professional services, human resources, cloud operations, development operations, leadership, consulting, project management and sales.

“We couldn’t be more excited to welcome Accruent’s New Orleans software development center to our city,” Mayor Cantrell said. “Creating approximately 350 jobs, this company will have a major impact in the lives of many families. My administration is dedicated to creating real opportunities for the people of New Orleans. That means workforce development: training and grooming our people for jobs like these.”

LED, along with GNO Inc. and the New Orleans Business Alliance, first met with Accruent leadership to discuss a potential project in December 2017. To secure the project, the State of Louisiana offered Accruent a competitive incentive package that includes the comprehensive solutions of LED FastStart® – the nation’s No. 1 state workforce development program. The company also is expected to utilize Louisiana’s Digital Interactive Media and Software Development Incentive and the Quality Jobs Program.

“It is an indication of how far the Greater New Orleans tech market has come that companies from Austin are now choosing to expand here,” said President and CEO Michael Hecht of Greater New Orleans Inc. “Accruent joins other recent announcements, including DXC Technology and iMerit, to make New Orleans the fastest-growing tech market in America, not to mention one of the most inclusive. We look forward to supporting Accurent’s growth and success in Greater New Orleans.”

“We know New Orleans is the ideal location for the digital software development industry, and today’s ribbon-cutting with Accruent only confirms our belief,” said President and CEO Quentin L. Messer Jr. of the New Orleans Business Alliance. “The intersection of culture and commerce makes New Orleans perfect for the digital industry, and today we once again officially celebrate the city’s emergence as a national digital hub. We are committed to Accruent and the industry’s success.”
