- Expansion will add 180,000 square feet for equipment and systems for processing graphite into anode material used in electric vehicle batteries.
- A Syrah Resources subsidiary signed an agreement in December 2021 to supply graphite to electric carmaker Tesla Inc.
- Syrah Vidalia facility is the first battery-grade natural graphite active anode material supplier in the U.S. The project gives Louisiana a supply-chain foothold in the rapidly expanding market for electric vehicle components.
- On Oct. 20, 2022, the U.S. Department of Energy selected Syrah for a $220 million grant to finance an additional facility expansion, on top of the $102.1 million DOE loan to help finance the initial expansion.
